Bengaluru: A seven-year-old girl died, while her father sustained injuries after a swarm of honeybees attacked the duo in Lalbagh recently. The girl, Vaishnavi Prasad, a second standard student, had gone to Lalabagh with her father Guruprasad, a software engineer and a resident of Kanakana Nagar, and mother Suguna for the flower show.

As it was crowded, the father and daughter went near Kempe Gowda Tower. Vaishnavi, who was playing near a tree, suddenly started screaming. When Guruprasad went to check, he found a swarm of bees attacking her. He tried to cover her, but he too was stung. They could not even run from the spot, as they were right under a big beehive.

Passersby managed to shoo away the bees and rushed them to Agadi Hospital nearby. Vaishnavi was in a critical condition. Towards evening, she stopped responding to treatment and died.
