Haneefa murderers will be brought to justice: CM Oommen Chandy, HM Ramesh Chennithala

THRISSUR: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala have promised to take strict action against the culprits involved in the murder of Congress ‘A’ leader Haneefa at Chavakkad on August 8. 
 
Mr Chennithala told reporters  after visiting  the mother of Haneefa and other family members that the accused would not be protected based on group loyalty.
 
“The government will not interfere in the probe in any manner. The probe team has the freedom to decide the course of investigation, ” he  said.  
 
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the family members in the evening and assured them that the  accused would be brought to justice.
 
Ayshabi, 70, mother of Haneefa,  has submitted a complaint to  DGP T.P. Senkumar that Cooperation Minister C. N. Balakrishnan and Congress leader Gopaprathapan were involved in the conspiracy to kill Haneefa.
 
The assailants attacked Haneefa saying that he was being targeted for  opposing Balakrishnan and Gopaprathapan.  Haneefa of Andathode Chalilveetil was stabbed to death in front of Ayshabi and she was injured when the assailants pushed her aside while she tried to save Haneefa.
 
Ayshabi,  who was injured,  returned home on Monday after being discharged from the hospital. 
The police  arrested three more persons in connection with the case on Tuesday.
 
They were identified as Shafi, Abdu and Siddique. Shafi was arrested from a lodge bordering  Malappuram district while the other two were taken into custody from near the Shornur railway station.
