Uttar Pradesh: Brothers behead girl over affair with cousin

Lucknow: Enraged by the love affair of their 17-year-old sister, two brothers allegedly beheaded her and paraded the severed head in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanapur.

According to reports, the brothers — Gul Hasan, 25, and Nanhey, 20 — are missing, along with their sister's head.

The brothers had spotted their sister Phool Jahan outside the house of their cousin, who she was in love with, on Monday afternoon. They opposed the of the marriage of their sister with the cousin.

Despite a warning from the brothers, Phool Jahan spent the night at the cousin’s place. They dragged her away, beating her all the way and cut her head off with a chopper.   

The brothers marched around the village with the bleeding head for about an hour before running away, police said.

While parading with the head, the brothers allegedly kept shouting: "This is a lesson to girls who have relationships. We do not allow our daughters or sisters to have affairs."
