Hyderabad: A day after the arrest of the second ranker of EdCET entrance on Tuesday, Police found that he had hired another person to write the entrance on his behalf.
Police also arrested the first ranker for his alleged involvement in the same case. The accused had submitted the entrance application with the photo of the person who appeared for the examination. Cops identified the accused as M. Linga Swamy, a post-graduate from Osmania University and a native of Chityal in Nalgonda district. During interrogation, Linga Swamy admitted that after completion of his MA in English, he had desired to pursue B.Ed at Osmania University.
As he felt he was weak in the subject, he took the help of his friend, one Shoban, a group D Railway employee.
“One of his friends, Srinivas Reddy, submitted an application, affixed with Shoban’s photo. He appeared for the exam on Linga Swamy’s behalf at Koti Women’s college center on June 6.” said Joint CP, CCS T. Prabhakar.
Police are investigating to find out the involvement of others in the case.
Earlier, police had registered a case under Section 420, based on a complaint by EdCet convener Mr P. Prasad. He had alleged of malpractices in TS EDCET-2015.
As many as 57,775 candidates had competed for 25,000 seats across Telangana out of which 160 seats were allotted to Osmania University. The test was conducted on June 6, in 134 centers across Telangana.
