Hyderabad: The BJP has decided to launch an agitation for the better utilisation of Krishna and Godavari water from this month end. State party president G. Kishan Reddy said the agitation will be launched from Mahbubnagar district. Before that, a meeting of MLAs and party leaders will be held on August 23 followed by a meeting of all local body leaders in September, he said.

“Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s irrigation policy is no different from Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s Jalayagnam. YSR took up canal works and TRS is laying pipelines for Water Grid. There is a mismatch between promises and ground reality. The government has earmarked '4,000 crore for the Water Grid in the Budget but is planning tenders for Rs 35,000 crore. Is it not cheating?” he asked. He said the Telangana government was depending on Central funds and state funds were not being released.
