Rajahmundry: In the aftermath of bifurcation, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University’s three branches in AP are bearing the brunt as its head office, located in Hyderabad, is unwilling to release wages to the staff from August onwards.
Students pursuing post-graduation and MPhil and PhD are also uncertain about who will conduct admissions, exams, awards marks and present certificates and verify thesis and award scholastic degrees.
The Potti Sriramulu Telugu University is headquartered in Hyderabad and has four branches – in Warangal, Rajahmundry in East Godavari, Srisailam in Kurnool and Kuchipudi in Krishna district. Each branch is unique.
The branch in Rajahmundry caters to Telugu literature while the Srisailam one looks after Telugu history, culture and archaeology and the branch at Kuchipudi promotes the art of Kuchipudi.
After bifurcation, the main branch and the one in Warangal have gone to Telangana while the remaining three are in AP. Trouble started when the main branch in Hyderabad failed to issue notification for admission of students into PG courses for the new academic year 2015-16 in June for the AP branches. The authorities also informed the branches that they might not pay wages from August onwards.
