4G phone sales see big jump

4G device shipments in India reached 5.7 million units

New Delhi: Indians are getting hooked to 4G smartphones. 4G device shipments in India reached 5.7 million units in April-June 2015, a 154 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth, according to Cyber Media Research (CMR). The number of players in the India 4G device segment also increased from 19 in Q1 (January-March) 2015 to 25 during Q2 (April-June) 2015.
 
Most of the big brands reflected an increase in their 4G/LTE shipments during 2Q CY 2015, except Apple and One Plus whose shipments declined as also their market shares, said CMR.
 
CMR Telecoms Practice, Lead Analyst, Faisal Kawoosa said 4G device shipments in the country should cross 11 million units per quarter by the end of this calendar year.
