Megan Fox, 29, and Brian Austin Green’s, 42, separation may have been out of the blue, but friends admit that “things have been rocky” for a while now.

The couple apparently split six months ago after arguing over her massive movie career, several sources have told Us Weekly.

The tension in their relationship was over her constant absence as she made film after film.  “They fight about her career,” a source relayed. “She was obsessed with getting roles.” She recently made Zeroville with James Franco and Will Ferrell. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she is worth $5 million.

Apparently, Brian wanted her to spend more time at home in LA with him and their two children. It was also stated that the actress has a very independent streak that does not sit well with the Brian. “She has gone off and done her own thing recently,” said the source.

Another source of contention for the couple was the renovation on their $3.35 million home. It was her “pet project” but she did not see it through. When Brian appeared on an episode of Bravo’s Flipping Out, he seemed passionate about renovating one of their properties. But suddenly, it was revealed that the two would sell the house, which was most likely an early sign that they were on the outs.

When asked if marriage was tricky, Megan had said, “You can’t live in a fantasy land and think that everything’s going to be perfect all the time,” she told Men’s Health in 2014. “You will go through phases where you’re just not getting along. That’s going to happen and it might not even make sense to you sometimes.” Despite the “difficulties”, she maintained that Brian was her “soulmate”.

“But they’re on friendly terms for the sake of their kids,” the source said. The couple has two children together, Noah, two, and 18-month-old Bodhi. Brian also has a son, Kassius Green, 13, from a prior relationship with Vanessa Marcil.

Brian and Megan got to know each other in 2004 when he guest starred on her sitcom Hope & Faith. “It was like magic,” Megan had said. They became engaged in 2006 then called it off. In 2009, Megan said she was just too young to tie the knot.  But in June 2010, Brian proposed again and she said yes again, and 24 days later, they were married.
