Ethiopia to replicate Kudumbashree

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Women, Children and Youth Affairs of Ethiopia, Zenebu Tadesse, has said that Kudumbashree model would be replicated in Ethiopia. 

Speaking at a  two-day  Kudumbashree international convention held at Kovalam  on Thursday, Zenebu Tadesse said that Ethiopia would sign a memorandum of understanding with Kerala government  soon to adopt a similar model to empower women in Ethiopia.

She said that poverty is the biggest challenge faced globally and Kerala has become a role model by empowering  women to improve the living standards of the poor. She said Ethiopian government was   keen on  taking creative steps to empower its  women by forming self-help groups.

Those who attended the event  included  Panchayat Minister M. K. Muneer, State Planning Board Vice-Chairman K.M. Chandrashekar and Kudumbashree Executive Director K. B. Valsalakumari. The convention would conclude on Friday.
