Tricolour burnt, Pakistan and ISIS flags hoisted in Srinagar
Some protesters started throwing stones at the police personnel
Srinagar: A group of youths burnt the tricolour on Friday and hoisted flags of terror outfit ISIS and Pakistan during a protest after Friday prayers, triggering a clash between the protesters and security forces.
A group of youths set ablaze the tricolour and PDP flags during the protests, besides hoisting the ISIS and Pakistani flags atop a shopping arcade near Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city soon after the Friday prayers, a police official said.
Some protesters started throwing stones at the police personnel but were chased away by police who lobbed few tear gas shells, the official said.
Islamic State and Pakistan flags have been hoisted in some parts of Kashmir, including downtown Srinagar, regularly since the beginning of the year.
