Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Amitab Bachchan has been urged by fans not to promote the upcoming biopic ‘Netaji- Mulayam Singh Yadav’, after the latter made remarks on rape survivors.

Meetali Dadwale, who is based in Delhi has started an online petition on the website Change.org  asking Amitabh to boycott the film that tells the life story of the politician.

“Amitabh Bachchan promoting the film ‘Netaji’ is giving validation to the deeply sexist comments by Mulayam Singh Yadav and his misogynistic ideology about women,” said Dadwal in her petition.

Yadav made a statement on rape on August 18 in Lucknow, where he had said while one man commits rape, four are named to 'settle scores' and that rape by four persons was not 'practical.

Amitabh was reportedly asked to introduce and promote ‘Netaji – Mulayam Singh Yadav’, directed by Vivek Dixit.
