Self-taught artist mixes the mundane and the abstract to create surreal sketches

California-based graphic designer Joseph Catimbang has been been passionate about sketching since childhood. His experiences of growing up in a small town, observing farm animals and nature at its best left a deep impression on him. This sketch
Paying tribute to Japanese animation artist Hayao Miyazaki, Catimbang's 'The Whisperer' inspires us never to stop believing in ourselves no matter how impossible circumstances may be.
With everyone from Super Mario to Nintendo, CatimBang reveals his love for video games through this amazing sketch.
Catimbang also uses popular culture influences in his work. Like in this sketch, he portrays comic book character Peter Parker torn between his two opposing identities - Spiderman and Venom.
Little Red Riding Hood wearing the wolf's mask and walking alongside him depicts just how easily the victim can turn into the perpetrator and become part of a vicious cycle.
Here in 'Perspective', Catimbang inspired from James Deacon, tries to express through his art that how what we see depends not only what we look at but also on where we look from. 
 
This piece ironically titled 'Hope' gives us a glimpse of the bleak future we are handing out to our future generations. When will we shake off our blissful ignorance?
