THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Completion of various work taken up under Operation Anantha before Onam is going to be near impossible for different departments as the tendering procedures of several works are being finalised now.

Chief secretary Jiji Thomson on Friday visited and reviewed the progress of works and gave an ultimatum to the agencies to finish them before Onam.

A senior official associated with the drive said many of the works will take at least a month to complete.

They include the culvert construction at Homeopathy Hospital near Pazhavangadi, drain construction at Karimadom Colony and the work at Thampanoor Mosque Lane.

“We have tendered the-se works and a minimum of one month would be required. We’ll complete the culvert construction work in front of Pad-matheertham Pond very soon,” said the official.

The chief secretary has given direction to the authorities to finish the culvert construction work at Attakulangara Bypass by Monday. He also entrusted the district collector to sanction a Rs 18-lakh project to clean the railway culvert at Thampanoor.
