Chennai“Whenever I called her she always enquired about our kids and she never talked about any troubles she faced in Chennai” Dr Eshu, husband of Dr Sathya, who was stabbed to death in her flat in Kilpauk, told reporters at KMC as he waited to complete the formalities of the post mortem.

The police continued their probe with questioning a number of persons known to the victim. “We are trying to find out details of person who were in touch with her. We are going through the call records of her mobile phone as well,” the police said.

The killer had taken only her mobile phone and not the gold ornaments that were in her house. The police are trying to find out what data on the doctor’s phone could be of interest to the killer.

Sathya was doing her post graduation at KMC while her doctor husband stayed in their hometown at Perambalur with their two kids. Dr Eshu said he spoke to Sathya on Thursday morning at around 8:15. “At around 10 am I called her again. She never answered the call. At that time I thought she must have been sleeping. When I called her around 11.30 am, the phone was switched off. Only in the evening I came to know she had been killed,” he said.

The police believe that Dr Sathya, 32, mother of two, could have been killed on Thursday morning itself. “The killer, before stabbing her three times with a kitchen knife, had strangled her using a copper wire. Her flat mate Dr Sangeetha, another PG student, claimed that she found Sathya dead when she reached the rented premises at around 2.30 pm on Thursday,” the police said.

Killers of women leave cops clueless
The murder of Dr Sathya is the fifth case this year in which a woman has been killed leaving the city police clueless. The police are yet to track the killer of an 86-year-old woman and her granddaughter in Pallikaranai that took place in January. The two were brutally attacked and murdered by intruders.
