Hyderabad: The drag-racers’ favourite stretch from Banjara Hills up to Madhapur is being taken up for signal improvement and permanent free way structures are being installed.

These permanent structures will come up in 20 more places in the next month, narrowing down the road space for speed junkies.

In the past, the temporary markers used to demarcate the free left at many crossroads were removed at night, leaving the roads for racing.

The permanent structures will not only regulate traffic movement 24x7 but also save the police from the work of installing and removing the markers every day.

These are part of new measures like signal improvement, creating pedestrian refuge islands, installing railings at junctions, among others to manage city traffic.

Currently the permanent structures have been placed at Srinagar Colony, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and KBR Park junctions.
