Seven policemen suspended for alleged custodial death of a woman in Hyderabad

Commissioner issued suspension orders for negligence

Hyderabad: The police commissioner has suspended the Asifnagar inspector, an SI, an ASI, one head constable and three constables in connection with the alleged custodial death of a woman on Sunday. The Seven cops from Asifnagar police station were suspended with immediate effect.

The commissioner issued suspension orders in the interests of a fair inquiry and for gross negligence in keeping the deceased N. Padma at the police station during odd hours resulting in severe health complications, followed by her death in hospital.

The suspended officials are inspector K. Srikanth, SI P. Hrushikesh, ASI Shaik Chand Basha, head constable Mohammed Nadar Ali and constables S. Pratap, Mohammed Khaja and Mohammed Manzoor Ahmed.

“During the suspension period they will be attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters at Petlaburj and they are not allowed to leave headquarters without the permission of the Joint Commissioner of Police, City Armed Reserve headquarters,” said the commissioner in an official release.
