40 per cent attendance for civils prelims

Sravan Kumar said both the papers were tough compared to last year

UPSC aspirants come out of an examination centre after writing the prelims in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Visakhapatnam: About 9,839 candidates of the total 12,133 who got registered, appeared for the UPSC civil services preliminary examinations held at various examination centres across the city on Sunday. This means only 40 pc of the aspirants attended the exam.

Speaking to this paper, R. Sravan Kumar, an aspirant, said both the papers were tough compared to last year. Of the 9,839 candidates, 4,950 attended the first paper in the morning and 4,889 attended the second paper in the afternoon today.

District collector Dr. N. Yuvraj and IAS officers who came as special observers, including Ramsankar Naik and Naresh Kumar, visited the examination centres and observed if there were any malpractice going on during the examination.
