New Delhi: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly murdered in southwest Delhi’s Chhawla area on Sunday evening by two of his classmates, who were jealous of his popularity and resented him being the class monitor.

The victim, identified as Shubham Jindal, was an only child and his father Anil Kumar runs a photostat shop in Roshan Vihar locality.

Upset that Shubham had complained against them, the accused, who are cousins, called Shubham  on the pretext of a cycle race on Sunday evening and allegedly killed him. All three of them were Class IX students of Krishna Model School.

Shubham’s father approached the police at about 11.30 pm on Sunday to file a missing complaint for his son. On Monday, the victim’s body was found lying near a crematorium in the locality.

“We apprehended them from Jhajjar in Haryana where they had escaped,” police said.
