CM Oommen Chandy to unveil Kochi Metro coach design, logo
Kochi Metro Rail Limited’s customer-experience consultant Tata Elxsi has finalised the logo
KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will unveil the design of Kochi Metro coaches and the new logo at a function here on September 3. The new logo will have various colour adaptations to be used for boats, buses, taxis and even cycles.
Kochi Metro Rail Limited’s customer-experience consultant Tata Elxsi has finalised the logo. The Metro coaches have been designed in the aqua marine colour pattern with most modern amenities.
According to KMRL sources, it has been decided to change the existing logo resembling the Malayalam letter ‘ka’ as it is difficult to integrate it with different colour patterns.
“There will be a main logo for Kochi Metro with related logos for other modes of transport. Since other forms of transport will be integrated with Metro under the proposed Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA), the Metro logo with colour variations has to be used for all. The new international-flavoured logo will be in line with the London Underground,” said top sources.
Tata Elxsi was entrusted with choosing the colour and aesthetics of the coaches’ interior and exterior. KMRL authorities hope that comfortable and premium amenities and an eye-catching colour pattern would help to attract more commuters to the mass-rapid transport.
KMRL officials claimed that Kochi Metro coaches would be one of the finest and most attractive compared to other Metros in the country.
Meanwhile, the construction of Metro coaches is progressing at Alstom factory in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, and the first batch of coaches will be delivered by December. Initially, nine cars will be transported from the Alstom factory.
