Parthiepan, known for his tongue-in-cheek roles and quick wit, is a star speaker at events. Being someone known for his quirky ideas as well as aesthetic sense, it wasn’t surprising to hear that he has an idea of cleaning up the Cooum River running across the length and breadth of Chennai at a recent event.

“I learnt that leaves of the trees, animal and human excreta and other wastes are being used to produce manure, which yields better results in any form. That’s when I stumbled upon the idea that since Cooum has been turned into drainage, the wastes can be converted into manure and used for agriculture in and around the city. I felt this serves as dual purpose of cleaning the river as well as providing a large quantity of manure.”

He added that he discussed this with a few experts in the field, who have assured him that the waste in the Cooum can indeed be used as manure.
