Ex-Railway minister praises Trivandrum railway station

Kochi: The railway officers of the Thiruvananthapuram division were in for a surprise when they inspected the complaint book at Trivandrum railway station on Tuesday.

Among the messages was a handwritten one by former railway minister Dinesh Trivedi who spent over an hour inspecting every facility and service of the station at the state capital on Monday.

“As the name indicates, usually the ‘Çomplaint Book’ is one where commuters register their complaints or worries. The ex-minister visited the station in his capacity as the chairman of the standing committee on parliamentary affairs along with senior Congress leader A.K. Antony, also a member of the standing committee. We’re in the dark as to when the MP wrote in the Complaint book and this gave us some anxious moments,” said a senior railway officer.

However, soon the officers heaved a sigh of relief as Mr Trivedi was happy over the state of affairs and wrote complimentary things in the complaint book. “...found the place very clean and nice. the quality of the tea was very good. wish all of you the very best,” read the handwritten message.

Mr Trivedi flew down to the state capital on Sunday as part of an inspection by the committee on raising the state to international standards. He spent over an hour on Monday inspecting the entire station when he even had tea from platform stalls.

“We’re very happy for the positive response...Thanks a lot sir,” divisional railway manger Sunil Bajpai wrote on Twitter in response to the former minister’s gesture. Mr Trivedi flew back to the capital after enjoying some quality time visiting Kanyakumari.
