Hyderabad: Some senior TRS leaders are peeved at Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for appointing new entrant D. Srinivas as adviser with a Cabinet rank. Though the Chief Minister promised to fill nominated posts, including 12 corporations recently, the sudden induction of Mr Srinivas, who quit the Congress and joined the TRS recently, has antagonised party leaders.
“It’s not only unconstitutional, but highly unjustified to appoint a new entrant with a Cabinet rank. Doesn’t the party have senior and experienced leaders? If this trend continues, party leaders and cadre who are in the party since inception will get demoralised and it will reflect in elections,” a senior TRS leader fumed.
Though no party leader has the guts to take up the issue with the CM and the TRS chief has got full control over the party, there is growing discomfort among senior party leaders against Mr Rao’s actions.
Appointment of Mr Srinivas has become a hot topic in party circles. TRS leaders and cadre are discussing the same and point to the leadership ignoring those who stood by the party since its inception.
“We already have six advisers. Where is the need for a seventh adviser on inter-state affairs with Cabinet rank? Is he not a super minister? What will be the role of minister, principal secretary and secretaries in the government? Should they all go to him for advice?” asked another senior TRS leader.
Senior leaders who are in the party since its inception, are already peeved at the Cabinet ministers like T. Srinivas Yadav, Tummala Nagesw-ara Rao and others who have switched loyalties and joined the TRS bagging ministerial posts.
“Mr Srinivas Yadav’s continuance as TD MLA may be technically not wrong, but highly unethical. If any legislator from other party joins TRS and gets Cabinet post, he should quit MLA seat and contest again.
However, Mr Yadav has become the Achilles Heel for the party. “There is not a day without Opposition attacking him. Is he so indispensible? Where was he during Telangana movement?” remarked another TRS legislator. The MLA admitted that no party leader has the guts to question the CM. “Many legislators are hurt at the induction of leaders from other parties into the Cabinet. It is time he dropped the turncoats and induct TRS leaders,” he added.
