Hyderabad: The TRS government has demanded that the Centre provide a Bihar like package to Telangana State. Accusing the Centre of step-motherly treatment, TRS MLC and politburo member Karne Prabhakar and Mahbubnagar MLA Srinivas Goud said that Telangana was neglected during the past six decades which led to bifurcation of the state.
“Though Telangana has been a victim for ages, the Centre hasn’t provided the required funds for its all-round development. The Centre should provide a Bihar like package to the state immediately,” Mr Prabhakar said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a whopping Rs 1.25 lakh crore package to Bihar during poll campaign. “Is it not the TD led by Chandrababu Naidu who lifted prohibition and sold liquor like water?” he asked. TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha AP Jithender Reddy demanded that the Centre should provide equal status and incentives to TS on par with Andhra Pradesh. He also refuted AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s allegations that they were insulted in the joint capital saying that the TS government has provided buildings and other facilities to AP government.
Similarly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Central ministers and sought Special Status and financial package to AP besides fulfilling promises made in AP Reorganisation Act. “The Centre has ignored the needs of Telangana. We have sought funds for development of villages. Promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act too have to be fulfilled. We need funds for development of highways, education, agriculture besides other sectors,” he added.
Alleging that State lost over 1200 TMC of water over the years, he said to ensure utilisation of its share of water the State government has taken up Rs 25,000 crore Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme. We are trying to development ayacut under Godavari and Krishna basin. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken up several schemes in this regard. Centre should extend financial support to State in irrigation sector too, he added.
He asked Telangana BJP leaders to bring pressure on Centre to sanction special package besides other funds to the State.Srinivas Goud said TRS would launch a movement against if the Centre denies special package.Another TRS MLC B Venkateswarulu accused Telugu Desam leaders of shedding crocodile tears over sale of cheap liquor. Is it not Telugu Desam led by Chandrababu Naidu who lifted.
prohibition and sold liquor like water? Telugu Desam is deliberately raking up the cheap liquor issue since it has nothing to pin point at the government. Telangana Government will not take up anything that would cause harm to people he remarked.
