New Delhi: India’s leading telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has acquired Augere Wireless Broadband, which holds 4G spectrum in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This would help Airtel to further strengthen its 4G network in the country.
Augere Wireless Broadband holds 20 MHz of BWA spectrum in the telecom circle of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. After acquisition, Augere will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Airtel. The acquisition is subject to necessary statutory and regulatory approvals. Although Augere has tested a pilot wireless network based on LTE technology in Madhya Pradesh, it did not launch its services .
Earlier this month Bharti Airtel commercially launched 4G services in around 300 cities across India, much before Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio rolls out its services in the coming months. Airtel, which is the largest telecom players in the country had been testing its 4G network in the last couple of months.
