Actress Neethu Krishna held for submitting forged documents to get US visa

Chennai: A small time Malayalam cinema actress and two others were arrested by the city police on Tuesday after the trio submitted forged documents to avail a US visa at the US consulate in the city on Tuesday.
Neethu Krishna Vasu, who acted in the Malayalam movie Celebrations, and two others submitted a bogus wedding invitation card among other documents, which landed them in a soup, police sources said.
The 27-year-old actress claimed that she was going to the US to perform at a wedding. Embassy officials scrutinized the wedding invitation and found out that the event was a bogus one following which she was detained. Two others, Justin Thomas (25) of Ernakulam and P. Subash (38) of Alapuzha in Kerala who were accompanying the actress were also detained and handed over to the Royapettah police.
Investigations revealed that the trio was lured by a film producer, Raju of Andhra Pradesh, and Kunjumon from Kerala who told them that they shall earn more by attending wedding parties of Indian diaspora in the USA.
“The actress claimed to have paid over Rs 2 lakh to the producer for processing her visa,” said a police officer. Royapettah police registered a case based on a complaint from the assistant security officer of the US consulate and arrested the trio. They were remanded to judicial custody. Police have launched a hunt for the producer and his accomplice. In a separate incident, Jaffer Ali of Tanjavur was also arrested by the police for submitting forged documents at the US consulate, police said.
