New policy to see bars mushroom across Telangana
Against the earlier policy, bars have been extended to municipalities & nagar panchayats
Hyderabad: The Telangana State government is on a spree to sanction bars in the state. On Wednesday, it came out with revised guidelines for sanctioning new bar licences on the basis of population based on the 2011 Census.
Against the earlier policy, bars have been extended to municipalities and nagar panchayats. New bars will be allotted through draw of lots. As per the new norms, in GHMC limits, a bar will be sanctioned for every 13,000 population, while in municipalities and nagar panchayats, for every 30,000 population.
In the earlier policy in undivided Andhra Pradesh, a population slab was fixed to grant licences to set up bars, which has been done away with by the Telangana government. The new policy has also been extended to Greater Hyderabad, covering the outskirts.
