HyderabadHyderabad’s Sports Coaching Foundation has been nominated for the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar — India’s top award given to entities both in public and private sectors as well as non-governmental organisations — for its contribution to the development of sports.

SCF founder and former Ranji cricketer K. Sai Baba will receive the award from President of India Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 29, the National Sports Day.

The SCF, which has its premises at Masab Tank in Hyderabad, has been recognised for its work through the ‘Sports for Development’ and ‘Build India Through Sports’ projects, especially among the less-privileged sections of society.

‘Build India Through Sports’ (BITS) is the Foundation’s flagship project. BITS has so far given an opportunity to more than 25,000 under-privileged children and youth to make their mark in a number of sports.

The number is expected to grow as SCF — which was founded in November, 1993 —  spreads its wings into newer localities in the twin cities as well as also in the neighbouring states.
