Mumbai: Sujoy Ghosh’s Hindi adaptation of the popular novel ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’ has been in the news for quite sometime now. After Saif Ali Khan was finalised as the male lead for the film, there were numerous speculations about the film’s leading lady.

It was initially said that Vidya Balan would be a part of the film, but the actress opted out of it. Other actresses like Kangana Ranaut, and Jacqueline Fernandez’ names have also been associated with the film, however Aishwarya Rai Bachchan announced the news herself at Cannes, that she would be working with Sujoy Ghosh next.

According to reports the film’s plot bears a striking resemblance to the recently released ‘Drishyam’, which interestingly also happens to be a remake of a Malyalam film by the same name. In the Keigo Higashino novel, a man goes to extreme length to help his neighbour and daughter get away with a murder they committed.

That could reportedly be one of the reasons the director may have decided to shelve the project. On the other hand, Sujoy is also currently focusing all his attention on another ambitious project ‘Durga Rani’ which has been in the news for the longest time. This could mean the director has decided to keep the film on hold at the moment.
