Dancing is my first love: Shakti Mohan
She tells us about her experience on working on the show
Shakti Mohan, has come a long way: The contemporary dancer, who made her start with the dance reality show Dance India Dance Season 2, is currently a mentor on Star Plus’s reality show, Dance Plus. She tells us about her experience on working on the show, and her equation with choreographer Remo D’Souza.
Having started out with a reality show yourself, what has your experience been like?
Reality shows are a blessing for people like me. It’s unbelievable how many artistes have gotten recognition through it. My sisters Neeti, Mukti and myself came in this industry by winning reality shows. Firstly, you are doing what you love doing, and also end up exploring something that otherwise you’d never tried your hand at. Secondly, you get to learn from the best in the industry. The exposure you get after being a part of this reality show is immense.
What was it like to work with Remo D’Souza?
Remo sir has brought a revolution in the dance industry. He is a living legend according to me and I feel so blessed to be associated with him in any way possible. He is a gem of a person and extremely talented.
How do you plan to go about your role as mentor?
I feel a great deal of responsibility towards my artists and want to give them everything I can to make sure they get the best out of this gig. I have been a contestant myself, so I know what a contestant goes through when one is competing: There are lots of ups and downs. If you don’t give them the right direction their experience can be very negative. I would do anything to keep them inspired and continue experimenting with their art form.
Your fans also accepted you as an actor in Dil Dosti Dance. Do you intend to take up acting seriously?
It was fun acting. I learnt a lot on the job and it was an awesome experience for me but dancing will always be my first love. Acting is a part of performing arts too so would love to act if the opportunity is right and related to dance.
