Rat bites: K Srinivas gives Rs 5 lakh to parents
He said the government had sanctioned Rs 3.30 crore to GGH
GUNTUR: AP health minister K. Srinivas on Thursday handed over a cheque for '5 lakh as ex-gratia to the parents of the 10-day-old infant who died after rat bites at the Government General Hospital, Guntur, on Wednesday.
Dr Srinivas along with ministers P. Sujatha and P. Pulla Rao and MP Galla Jayadev visited to hospital and said rats would be eliminated in a week.
He assured action against the GGH staff who behaved rudely behaved with baby?s parents.
He told collector Kantilal Dande to initiate a special sanitation drive at the hospital, which was handling 1,500 patients.
He said the government had sanctioned Rs 3.30 crore to GGH. He said the pressure of work on the doctors was the main cause for the poor administration of the hospital and said the collector had been asekd to look after administrative issues.
He said the government was planning to appoint revenue divisional officer-level officials to oversee administration of the government hospitals.
