Chennai: A 42-year-old cab driver was found dead inside his vehicle parked near the Pallavaram bus terminus on Friday morning. Police suspect him to have suffered asphyxiation while sleeping inside the car for long hours switching on the air conditioner.
A police team rushed to the Pallavaram bus terminus around 7 am after locals informed the cops about a foul smell emanating from it. Since, the man did not come out after the cops repeatedly knocked on the windows, they broke open the door.
Police said that the man might have died a day ago and sent the body to Chromepet government hospital for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as V. Mohammad Ismail (42) of Azhagu Nachiarpuram in Tirunelveli district. The Indica Car (regn no. TN 69 AK 1154) belonged to him, police said. Cops have informed the family members who are rushing to Chennai. Pallavaram police are investigating.
