Hyderabad: A large number of drivers, working with Uber, participated in a day-long hunger strike camp at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, on Friday to oppose the company holding back promised incentives and business.
Addressing the hunger strike camp, TSCBOA president Syed Nizamuddin alleged that Uber has cheated thousands of drivers with the promise of more than Rs 70,000 income per month and labeled it a ‘corporate fraud’.
Several other drivers and members of TSCBOA also joined the hunger strike camp to express their solidarity with the Uber drivers. “Almost all the drivers purchased new vehicles on finance or by borrowing money on huge interest. However, due to drastic cut in incentives and bookings, the drivers are unable to even pay the interest on time. Most of them had joined the Uber by abruptly leaving their regular jobs,” he said.
