Narendra Modi pays tributes to Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day

PM also extended good wishes to athletes and coaches who will be honoured with awards today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day and congratulated sportspersons and coaches who would be conferred with various sports awards.

Dhyan Chand's birthday today is being celebrated as the National Sports Day in the country. "Best wishes to sports enthusiasts and tributes to Major Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day. May sports and sportsman spirit shine in India," PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also extended good wishes to all those athletes and coaches who will be honoured at the Rashtrapati Bhawan with various sports awards. "Congrats to sportspersons and coaches who will be honoured with various sports awards. We are proud of their efforts and contribution to sports," the Prime Minister added.
