Two RSS men stabbed in Thodupuzha

Kottayam: Tension was prevailing in Thodupuzha in Idukki district on Saturday after clashes between Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres in which two RSS men were stabbed.

Rajesh and Rijish sustained stab injuries after a dispute between the two sides Friday night near the Kanjiramattom temple in Thodupuzha.

The RSS workers were admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. Thodupuzha Police sources told DC that they had registered cases against three Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists for the attack.

Earlier, RSS activists took out a protest march in Thodupuzha town. They CPI (M) area committee office at Thodupuzha was damaged in the stone throwing by the protesters.

The CPI-M flags were also widely destroyed. Police has heightened security in the region with more reinforcements as the tension prevailed.

The injured were admitted to the Kolenchery Medical Trust Hospital and at a private hospital at Muthalakode.
