For the fifth year running, yesteryear actors and actresses had a reunion in August, this time in Chennai. Actor Naresh says that they got the inspiration when King of Pop Michael Jackson died. “His death became a controversy and ended in a sad note. At that time we came up with this idea and decided to stay in touch with each other,” he says.

Earlier get-togethers were hosted by Lizi and Priyadarshan, followed by Kannada superstar Ambarish, Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal and then our own Chiranjeevi last year. This year, Suhasini hosted the stars in Chennai at a beach house.

“This year we wanted to expand to the North too and thus invited Jackie Shroff,” says Naresh. Poonam Dhillon also joined the party this year, along with Jayasudha. They call themselves the “Class of ’80s”.

“We discuss everything, from personal to industry news. We usually spend a day together and sometimes extend it by another day,” says Naresh. Swapna, who acted in many South Indian films as a leading lady and who is now settled in Mumbai, also joined the class this year.

This year, the actors who got together included Venkatesh, Suman, Bhanu Chander, Chiranjeevi, Naresh, Rehman, Mohan Lal, Satyaraj, Khushboo, Suhasini, Lizi, Radha, Saritha and others. “We have also set up a Whatsapp group to keep in touch,” says Naresh.
