Centre biased against Telangana: Kavita
Chandrasekhar Rao to pressurise the Centre to get more revenues
Hyderabad: Joining finance minister Etela Rajender in criticising the Centre for not extending financial packages and projects to the state, Nizamabad MP K. Kavita on Sunday accused the Narendra Modi-led NDA government of showing step-motherly treatment towards Telangana.
She appealed to the Centre not to discriminate against the new state in providing financial help. Addressing the media in New Delhi on Sunday, the TRS MP said that while the Telangana government was keen to cooperate with Mr Modi’s government, the latter was not extending a helping hand to the state which had suffered a lot under earlier regimes.
She also said that AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should stop meddling with Telangana’s affairs and instead come forward for a dialogue with TS CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao to pressurise the Centre to get more revenues and projects for the two Telugu-speaking states.
“There is no use in AP raising objections to the projects in Telangana. It is a fact that due to the negligence of previous governments in objecting to illegal projects taken up by Karnataka and Maharashtra that both the Telugu-speaking states are now suffering due to lack of water,” she said.
Ms Kavita also appealed to the people of AP to not lose their fighting spirit and resort to extreme steps the special category status. “The TS government is ready to resolve any dispute with AP provided Mr Naidus stop interfering in Telangana affairs,” she said.
“Mr Naidu should not be silent and digest the insults, it’s better that he speak out; indeed his silence has become a curse for AP,” she said.
Earlier in the day Ms Kavita met President Pranab Mukherjee and offered her condolences for the recent demise of his wife.
