Hyderabad: The proposed health university for Telangana in Warangal, to be named after poet Kaloji Narayana Rao, is likely to come up in Hyderabad. The project, which had been announced amidst much fanfare by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in September last year and ratified by the Cabinet in December, has not made any headway since then.

The reason, the government could not appoint staff in the varsity with senior professors and employees refusing to move out of Hyderabad. Official sources said the TS government is now actively considering a proposal to shift the varsity to the Chest Hospital premises in Erragadda, where the CM had earlier proposed to construct the Secretariat.

With reports of Mr Rao changing his mind about the Erragadda location for the secretariat and considering Bison Polo Ground in Secunderabad, the health varsity is now  being considered for Erragadda. Mr Rao had earlier proposed to shift the Erragadda hospital to Vikarabad.
