Mysuru back on air map from September 3
Alliance Air will operate flights six days a week except Wednesday

Mysuru: There is good news for tourists coming to Mysuru for Dasara this year and industrialists too. The much-awaited air connectivity to Mysuru will be back from September 3. Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India will operate 72-seater flights from Mysuru to Bengaluru six days a week except Wednesday.
Mysuru Airport Authority Director Manoj Kumar Singh held a meeting with various stakeholders including Mysuru Industries’ Association, Travel Agents’ Association and others here on Sunday.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Singh said flights from Kempegowda International airport, Bengaluru will depart at 6 am and arrive at Mysuru by 6.40 am. Flights from Mysuru will depart at 7 am and land at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at 7.40 am.” Booking slots are open online as Alliance Air is yet to come up with its office in Mysuru.
Expressing happiness over flight connectivity resuming, Mr Prashanth B.S. of Mysuru Travel Agents’ Association and Mysuru Tourism Forum said, “People are ready to invest in air tickets as time and safety matters most to them. With this we can expect 20 per cent increase in domestic tourists to city and 10 per cent increase in international tourists.”
Mysuru Industries Association Head Suresh Kumar Jain said,“Over the years we have lost 20-30 per cent of investors due to lack of air connectivity to city. The industrial sector will definitely boom by not less than 20-30 percent over a period of time with air connectivity back. Even we will get opportunities to go out to improve our market. We only wish air connectivity doesn’t end again.”
Mysuru Airport was upgraded at a cost of Rs 82 crore by Airport Authority of India in 2009 and was inaugurated in 2010. It remained non-operational with Spice Jet beginning its operation in January 2013 and ending it in October 2014, even though they had 70 percent occupancy.
