KOZHIKODE: No abandoned women or children will sleep on the streets of Kozhikode as the Department for Social Justice, after a long wait, has launched its project ‘Ende Koodu’ that provides shelter at night for these destitutes.

This is a pilot project. When the news flashed on the brutal attack against a child who was sleeping on the pavement at Tirur in Malappuram district was, it was an eye opener”, said Minister. This is the first phase and following its success, more such projects will be started in various parts of the State.
It is the once dilapidated former village office building situated at the premises of the Kasaba Police station that has been used for the shelter. Equipped with enough facilities for destitute women and children to have an easy and safe night, Ende Koodu has appointed two guards and a warden for the house.
