Police hurting Indrani, claims lawyer
Police suspects some more people outside the state might have been involved
Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea, arrested for the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, has been beaten by the police, complains her legal team, adding that they are not allowed access to Ms Mukerjea.
A source in Ms Mukerjea’s legal team, headed by lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, said that in a phone call, he told Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria, that his client is bruised, and that on Saturday night, her meeting with her lawyers was conducted in the presence of five policemen.
The police on Monday filed an application contending that the accused should not be allowed to have home food as it could be laced with poison, but it was rejected.
During argument, Sanjeev Khanna’s lawyer Hrishikesh Mundergi argued that police were only awaiting the reports of the forensic tests now, so there was no need for further police custody. However, their plea was rejected. Police suspects some more people outside the state might have been involved in the murder.
