Violence continued in Azheekode despite ban orders.  Country bombs were being freely used by the attackers in spite of  heavy police deployment and surveillance.

The police  registered  over 30 cases and several persons were  taken into custody, but no arrests were recorded.

With Janmashtami celebrations round the corner, police are  anticipating more violence in the district.

The Rapid Action Force, MSP and Anti-Naxal Force have been deployed in the troubled areas.

The district administration has sought  more police forces and  called  a peace meeting with senior leaders of both the parties on Tuesday evening.

However, the parties  continued to accuse each other  of  perpetrating  violence for political gains. The police seized two country bombs  during a vehicle check on Monday.

The accused Sanoj, 30, a resident of  Thilanur, Chakkarakkal,  and  three of his accomplices, Nalinakshan, Jineesh and Gokulan, were arrested.

Both the CPM and BJP activists are preparing to hold Janmashtami celebrations on September 5 and this could lead to street fights.  The district administration has appealed to the leaders to maintain peace in the coming days.
