Hyderabad: The suspense over Gaddar contesting in the coming Warangal Lok Sabha bypolls continues with the balladeer not announcing the same but only stating he will need to consult the people of Telangana state before taking any decision.

Leaders of 10 Left political parties led by state secretaries of the CPM and the CPI — Tammineni Veerabhadram and Chada Venkata Reddy respectively — met Gaddar at his residence after they proposed his name as candidate for the coming bypolls for Warangal Lok Sabha.

The Left leaders had an hour-long meeting with Gaddar and have tried to convince him to be the candidate. Later, addressing a news conference along with the Left leaders, Gaddar said he had all along his life associated with the cause of Telangana.

“Since the Left leaders had come to me and requested me to be the candidate, I will once again go to the people and seek their opinion on this and only then announce my decision,” Gaddar said.

He, however, did not give any definite time frame as to when he will announce his decision. Mr Venkata reddy said it is quite common for Gaddar to think on contesting in elections and they are still hopeful that he will take a favourable decision on contesting elections.
