Resolution on status adopted by Andhra Pradesh assembly
The run-up to the resolution was an opportunity for both the ruling and Opposition parties
Hyderabad: The AP state Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution seeking from the Centre special status, special packages and all other benefits assured on the Floor of the Parliament and also in the Reorganisation Act.
The run-up to the resolution was an opportunity for both the ruling and Opposition parties to champion the cause of special status.
Making it clear that there was no second thought on getting special status for AP, CM N. Chandrababu Naidu said the TD government also wants special packages and other assurances fulfilled. “We are working on getting every additional paisa from the Centre for the development of the state, along with special status,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the special status has more to offer than any special package. He also accused the TD of trying to mislead the people by saying that special package was better than special status.
