Uncertainty over Sandra Venkata Veeraiah’s TTD membership
He was arrested by Telangana ACB in the cash-for-vote case
Hyderabad: Whether TD MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah’s TTD membership will be in trouble or not became an interesting subject of discussion between the media and AP endowment minister P. Manikyala Rao on Tuesday at his chamber in the Assembly.
Will Mr Veeraiah, who was arrested by Telangana ACB in the cash-for-vote case and went to jail attract disqualification as TTD member? Mr Veeraiah was appointed Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams member by the AP government.
When asked whether the MLA will attract disqualification as he was arrested, the minister said, according to the Endowment Act, a member of any trustee should not have a criminal case against him. He said there was no case on Mr Veeraiah when he was appointed TTD member and also when he took oath as a TTD member. The minister said that he is not aware whether he will be disqualified or not and he has to go through the Act. He said if anyone complains on this issue, he will look into it.
