Will quit if charges proved, says Jagan Mohan Reddy
YSR Congress chief says Naidu must resign if he fails to prove the allegations
Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday challenged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to resign if the ruling party fails to prove that he had met TS minister T. Harish Rao and nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson in a hotel. “I don’t even know who Stephenson is or the name of the hotel as alleged. If ruling party is able to prove that I met Harish Rao and recommended Stephenson’s name for MLC post, I will resign. However, if the TD members fail to prove their allegation, then Naidu must resign,” he said.
His challenge came during a heated debate between him and Mr Naidu over the cash-for-vote scam in the AP Assembly. The heated exchange began when Mr Reddy accused the Chief Minister of compromising on the special status issue to save his skin in the cash-for-vote scam.
