Hyderabad: Telugu Desam MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy said on Tuesday that let alone the TD ministers in the Union Cabinet, even if AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu resigned, the state would not get the special category status from the Centre.

Reacting to YSR Congress chief Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s demand on withdrawing TD ministers from the Union Cabinet to protest the Centre’s inaction on the issue, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that if the YSR Congress chief could promise to get special category status for the state, the 10 TD MPs, including himself, were ready to resign.

He said even though people did not know what the special category status meant, they wanted it and added that Andhra Pradesh would get a good financial package from the Centre but no special category status.

He said, “Andhra Pradesh will get a better financial package than the one announced for Bihar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago.”

Sarcastically, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was  the “latest” leader because he was an angry person while CM Naidu was an outdated leader because he was not an angry person.

He also appealed to people not to commit suicides over the special category status.
