Congress dismisses speculation about Rahul Gandhi not sharing dais with Lalu
Congress is fighting the Bihar polls in alliance with RJD and JD-U
New Delhi: Congress on Wednesday dismissed speculation that Rahul Gandhi will not share dais with RJD chief Lalu Prasad in poll-bound Bihar.
"These sort of doubts only you have. The meaning of an alliance is to fight unitedly. It is a grand alliance."
"We will all be together. Congress President has shared (the dais). Question does not arise of the Congress Vice President not doing", party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
He was asked a specific question whether Gandhi will share dais with Lalu Prasad, the RJD supremo, who was disqualified from the last Lok Sabha after his conviction in a fodder scam case.
Gandhi and Lalu are not on the best of terms ever since the disqualification which was the direct fallout of the Congress Vice President torpedoing plans of the then Manmohan Singh government to bring out a controversial ordinance to negate the Supreme Court verdict on convicted lawmakers.
Congress, which is out of power in Bihar for the past 25 years with the upsurge of the Mandal and Mandir issues, is fighting the polls in alliance with RJD and JD-U, which is projecting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
