Cops grill Sainath’s classmates
Cyberabad police launched an investigation on Tuesday
Hyderabad: The police questioned the classmates of alleged ragging victim V. Sainath and his seniors at the CMR Engineering College on Wednesday. The cops sent the suicide note of Sainath to FSL for handwriting verification.
The Cyberabad police launched an investigation on Tuesday into the alleged suicide of V. Sainath, a first year BTech student of CMR Engineering College.
Police suspects that senior students have threatened Sainath's classmates against revealing any facts about ragging on the campus.
"We questioned Sainath's classmates and his seniors. But none of them revealed any details about ragging. We sent the suicide note to FSL for verification of handwriting. We are verifying the call records of Sainath's mobile phone," said Petbasheerabad ACP S. Ashok Kumar.
The college authorities denied reports of ragging saying that strict action will be initiated against students who engaged in such activities. "We will not spare those who rag students. Rules are enforced strictly regarding this," said an official from the college.
Sainath's classmates said they had no knowledge of him being ragged by seniors. Sainath committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping in front of a moving train at Waddepally near Kazipet in Warangal district. He left a suicide note in his bag saying, "Please stop ragging. I would not have reached such a situation had my seniors not done what they have done." Sainath joined CMR Engineering College on August 17 in the ECE department and left saying that he was sick and was going home. Sainath belongs to Ramakrishnapur in Adilabad district.
