PDS material seized, 4 held

Hyderabad: Cyberabad SOT officials raided a godown in Fatimanagar Colony, Kothapet, and arrested four persons who were allegedly involved in diverting PDS commodities to the black market. Officials seized 456 bags of rice, 42 bags of sugar, 35 bags of wheat, 7 bags of tur dal, four bags of salt, Rs 1 lakh, a van and a motor cycle. 
 
The approximate value of the seized material is around Rs 8 lakh. Nine ration dealers and one agent are absconding. 
“The men purchased PDS commodities from dealers and sold it at a high price in the market,” said an SOT official. The SOT officials seized 21 quintals of rice, 17.5 quintals of wheat, 3.5 quintals of tur dal and two quintals of salt. 
 
Police identified the arrested men as D. Shankarlal, Madhu Kiran, H. Rajkumar and S.K. Gaffar. The seized material and the arrested men were handed over to Pahadishareef police.
