Anantapur: A RFSL report regarding a murder case has led to the suspension of an inspector and a sub-inspector three years after the incident.

Anantapur SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu, who studied the forensic laboratory report in depth, observed that the death of K. Kavitha of Nallamada in Kadiri subdivision, was a murder and not due to snakebite as reported.

Kavitha had died on July 24, 2011 at her mother’s residence.

The then investigating officer K. Ravindranath Reddy, who was a sub-inspector at that time, and assistant sub-inspector B. Chalapathi had registered a case under Section 174 IPC. The death was attributed to snakebite.

After a few months, Kavitha’s husband Adinarayana had killed her mother Tirumalamma over some dispute.

Kavitha had married Adinayarna against her parents’ wishes.

Noticing the inconsistencies between the forensics report and the cops’ version, Mr Babu ordered suspension of Ravindranath Reddy, who was now inspector of Kadiri and Chala-pathi, now Uravakonda sub-inspector.

“If they had properly investigated the case, the second murder (of Tiruma-lamma) could have been avoided,” the SP opined.

He said that the case was now converted into a murder case under Section 302.
